A Melbourne university student has posted pictures online showing him posing with a silver-plated AK47 assault rifle in Syria, along with messages urging fellow Islamic extremists to “spill blood” in Australia.

Suhan Rahman, 23, from Roxburgh in Melbourne’s north, also posted pictures of himself with notorious Sydney extremist Mohamed Elomar, who last year posted pictures online of himself holding the severed heads of Syrian government soldiers.

They were in a part of Syria controlled by the Islamic State jihadist group.

“Spill blood young aussies. Dont be humiliated especially if u cant b here in sham (Syria).”

On Thursday, Rahman’s father Lutfur told News Corp his son had brought shame on the family.
