‘Bully’ ABC host says sorry

A veteran ABC radio host has admitted to workplace bullying against female staff after initial denials.

ABC 774 Melbourne afternoon presenter Richard Stubbs has apologised to ABC staff and taken an extended period of leave, but escaped any further punishment.

He was accused of bullying by at least three female staff, including a senior producer.

Mr Stubbs has shown “deep regret” for the bullying, ABC spokesman Nick Leys said in a statement.

“ABC management was made aware of workplace issues regarding Richard Stubbs and undertook an enquiry with concerned staff,” Mr Leys said.

“The ABC is satisfied the matter has been resolved appropriately and acknowledges Mr Stubbs’s deep regret for any distress caused to his colleagues. He is on scheduled leave and will return and is looking forward to a positive year with the team at 774.”

The program hosted by Mr Stubbs has fallen in the ratings in recent times, ranking well behind 3AW, Fox, Gold, Mix, Triple M, Nova and Smooth FM.
