An autopsy on a man allegedly murdered by daughter of former NSW premier Neville Wran could take another three months, a Sydney court has heard.

Harriet Wran, 26, Lloyd Edward Haines, 29, and 35-year-old Michael Lee are accused of murdering Daniel McNulty in a housing commission unit block in Redfern in August.

A witness, Brett Fitzgerald, was also stabbed several times.

Wran, Haines and Lee have been charged with murder, attempted murder and aggravated break and enter over the knife attack.

It is understood Wran was desperate to score drugs when a fight broke out with Mr McNulty, who was stabbed twice and died from the wounds.

Neither Wran nor Lee were required to appear during a brief appearance at Central Local Court on Wednesday.

Lawyers are still waiting on forensic reports, evidence from a handwriting expert and the results of Mr McNulty’s autopsy.

“The indication is three months plus,” a prosecutor told the court.

“Attempts will be made to expedite it.”

Wran and Lee did not apply for bail and could remain behind bars until December 18, when their case is due to return to court.

Haines is expected to face court on Thursday.
