Liberal MPs took to Twitter to claim that a dead weight has been lifted from the Australian economy.

The official Liberal Party twitter page said that the carbon tax repeal was great news for Australian families and small business.

In a statement, Prime Minister Tony Abbott said that “this is great news for Australian families and for our nation’s small businesses”.

Greens Senator Penny Wright expressed her disappointment with the repeal, saying that the Greens would continue to campaign for environmental issues.

Greens Leader Christine Milne said it was a “monumental blunder” that would “make life worse for all future generations”.
