PM makes Maccas stop

Customers at a McDonald’s restaurant were caught by surprise when Prime Minister Tony Abbott turned up for a coffee.

Mr Abbott spent much of the day in western Sydney spruiking his first federal budget, which has received a cool reception.

But the PM was warmly greeted by up to 30 customers at the McDonald’s in Leumeah.

“Some people said, ‘Look, some tough decisions had to be made and good on you for taking them’,” Mr Abbott told 2GB radio on Friday.

“Others said, ‘Really nice to have you here’, and others just squealed with excitement and wanted a photo.

“No one chose to bite my head off.”
