A search will resume at first light for two men missing on the NSW Central Coast.

Two women and four men were fishing off rocks off Wybung Head at about 6.30pm (AEST) on Friday when one of the women was swept into the water by a wave.

She was eventually carried back in by the sea, but two men from the group, aged 24 and 26, who jumped in after her, are now missing.

A rescue effort was called off at 9.30pm and is due to resume at dawn.

Police said none of the group were wearing life jackets.
