Labor MPs unhappy with airport backing

Federal Labor’s western Sydney MPs are planning to confront Bill Shorten over the their leader’s apparent support for an airport at Badgerys Creek.

Mr Shorten has said Labor believes Sydney needs a second airport, describing Badgerys Creek as a “live option”.

The option has won the support of NSW Labor.

But the region’s federal Labor MPs, including shadow cabinet members Chris Bowen and Michelle Rowland, reportedly are unhappy with the decision.

Mr Shorten has agreed to sit down with the group in Canberra on Monday, Fairfax Media says.
