Luke Batty’s funeral to be held on Friday

The funeral for 11-year-old Luke Batty who was killed by his father last week after a Melbourne cricket practice will be held on Friday.

Greg Anderson, 54, was wanted on five warrants when he killed Luke in front of children and parents after after Tyabb cricket training on the Mornington Peninsula last Wednesday.

Police then fatally shot the knife-wielding Mr Anderson, after failing to subdue him with capsicum spray.

Luke’s funeral will be held at his former school, the Flinders Christian Community College at Tyabb, where he was in Year Six.

The service will be at 11am (AEDT) Friday, according to a notice in the Herald Sun on Wednesday.

Mourners have been asked to wear something yellow in his memory.

The service will be held in the school chapel for close family and friends but the service will be screened in the gym where other mourners are welcome to attend.

A private family cremation will follow the service.

The family have requested donations to an organisation for children affected by violence instead of flowers.
