A 58-year-old West Australian man has been found dead in the Philippines.

Rodney Chambers from Wundowie, north east of Perth, was a week into a three-week holiday in the city of Lapu Lapu in the central Philippines.

Philippines police say his body was found in a hotel room at the weekend.

There are reports a woman known to Chambers is in police custody.

The Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade says it is providing consular assistance to Chambers’s family.
