Three dead in Melbourne road accident

Three people, including a pedestrian, have died in a two car collision in Melbourne’s southeast.

Two occupants of a silver Ford sedan died at the scene when their vehicle collided with a white Ford hatchback at the intersection of Warragul and Dandenong Roads at Oakleigh about 11.40pm (AEDT) on Sunday, police said.

The two are yet to be formally identified.

A male pedestrian who died at the scene also is yet to be formally identified.

The driver of the Ford was taken to Royal Melbourne Hospital for treatment, while a fourth occupant of the car was not injured.

The male driver of the hatchback was taken to Royal Melbourne Hospital with serious injuries.

Victoria’s road toll for 2014 is eight, compared to four at the same time last year.
