Vic man struck twice by car on highway

A young man walking along a highway in Melbourne was hit by a car and then struck again by the same vehicle after it had been pulled over and was rear-ended.

The man, in his 20s, had been walking along the Frankston-Dandenong Road in the city’s south in Bangholme when a car knocked him down about 3.30am on Saturday.

A police spokesman says the driver pulled over to help, but a taxi slammed into the back of the parked car, launching it forward into the injured pedestrian.

Paramedics treated the man for multiple injuries before he was airlifted to hospital, an Ambulance Victoria spokesman said.

He is in a critical condition.

Four others at the scene were treated for minor injuries.
