Trending news: Halloween heist, Swiftkin and ‘Space Spa’

This week it was announced a beloved children’s show is getting a makeover to mark its 56th year.

Meanwhile, a pumpkin turned into Taylor Swift for Halloween – and speaking of the spooky season, perhaps it’s a good idea not to get your groceries delivered on October 31.

Here are some of the trending stories you may have missed.

Sesame Street‘s new format

This week, it was announced that Sesame Street would undergo some changes in its 56th season, which will premiere in 2025.

The Hollywood Reporter  revealed episodes will soon favour more narrative-driven content, as opposed to the magazine-style short-item content the show has favoured all this time.

The changes were confirmed by Sesame Workshop, which produces the iconic show.

Basically, Sesame Street is going to have two longer segments that focus on a core character of the show, with a new animated series wedged between them.

This is the first time in the show’s history the format has changed and represents the first major change since 2016 when the show’s run time was cut.

Toilet with out-of-this-world view

The design of this toilet got people talking. Space Perspectives hopes to take people to the edge of space, on a six-hour journey, so naturally, they need a toilet on board.

This toilet has been dubbed the first-ever “Space Spa”.

There are plenty of windows so you’re not missing out when you duck to the bathroom. Plus there are living plants and the toilet lid has a cushion.

The founder of Space Perspectives is from the UK, so naturally, this has been dubbed the “loo with a view”.

Swiftkin

Jeanette Paras has been turning pumpkins into celebrities for over 30 years.

This year, for Halloween, she turned a 180kg pumpkin into Taylor Swift.

It makes sense given Swift has had an incredible year, with the success of the Eras Tour and her re-recording old albums, plus her high-profile relationship with US gridiron star Travis Kelce.

It took several hours for Paras to finish Swift’s face on the pumpkin, which is topped off by nine wigs to achieve her hair.

Paras has painted several famous faces on pumpkins in the past. According to The Guardian, the Swift pumpkin, which she has named Swiftkin, is her favourite.

People are reportedly coming from all over the country to see this pumpkin in Ohio and plenty of trick-or-treaters took pictures with it too.

Grocery Halloween heist

ToniAnn Kruse from New Jersey had some groceries delivered to her home on Tuesday night.

However, when she went to collect her bags from out the front, she noticed a few items were missing, TV station KHOU reported.

She ended up checking her security footage to figure out what happened to her missing fish and cheese.

It turns out trick-or-treaters paid a visit to her home and mistook the groceries for treats, so they helped themselves.
