‘Gay and proud’: Anonymous hacks IS Twitter

An Anonymous hacker has turned Islamic State’s Twitter accounts fabulously gay and proud.

The hacker, @WauchulaGhost, infiltrated hundreds of pro-ISIS accounts, replacing their content with rainbow flags and gay pride slogans.

• British MP’s alleged killer a “loner”
• EgyptAir black box found
• ‘Australian cattle’ bludgeoned

He posted tweets on their behalf like “I’m gay and proud!!”, “Out and Proud!” and “#OrlandoWillNotBeForgotten”, including links to gay porn sites.

‘Ghost’ said his motivation was in response to the Orlando shooting tragedy that saw 49 people die at Pulse nightclub during the attack.

“I did it for the lives lost in Orlando,” the Anonymous member told Newsweek.

“Daesh [ISIS] have been spreading and praising the attack, so I thought I would defend those that were lost. The taking of innocent lives will not be tolerated.

“Our actions are directed at Jihadist extremists. Many of our own [group of hackers] are Muslim and we respect all religions that do not take innocent lives.”

Twitter has since closed many of the hacked accounts, prompting questions about why Twitter allowed supporters of the Islamic State to use the social media platform to convert followers.

It coincides with a new court case against Twitter by the widow of an American man killed allegedly by IS overseas for allowing these accounts to operate.

WauchulaGhost has also been tweeting out their IP addresses, phone numbers and other contact information for fellow hackers to use.
