Baby ‘totally stoked’ to surf his first wave

A keen surfer has filmed his baby son’s first bodyboarding session in the ocean, and it looks like the youngster was born to surf.

Mr Tirado used a GoPro to film his nine-month-old’s “first try” in the waves.

“I encourage you to safely bring your kids to the ocean,” says the proud father. “After all, the ocean is the place where it all began.”

According to science, newborn babies are born with water instincts.

For example, they have a diving reflex, called the bradycardic response, which triggers them to hold their breath when their heads are submerged under water, while their heart rates slows to conserve oxygen.

But this ability is thought to be lost after six months, which may explain why the little Tirado tyke has his mouth open the whole time while taking a beating from the waves.

As for the smile, perhaps he inherited a love of water from his daddy.
