Western Australia has recorded zero new local COVID-19 cases out of almost 5000 tests after the state extended its health restrictions.

Three new cases were recorded in hotel quarantine on Tuesday, including two from overseas and one from interstate.

A cluster linked to an unvaccinated 25-year-old French man who travelled to WA from Queensland now sits at 10 cases, including the index case.

WA Health is now managing 23 active COVID-19 cases in the state and 665 close contacts, including 46 who are yet to be tested for the virus.

Police are attempting to find the outstanding close contacts so they can be isolated.

There are 1109 casual contacts in the state, with 243 of those yet to be tested.

About 83.4 per cent of all Western Australians aged over 12 are fully vaccinated after 6,295 vaccines were administered on Monday.

The latest figures come after Premier Mark McGowan extended restrictions on gatherings and a mask mandate into the new year over concerns some infected people may be delaying getting tested so they can party.

On Monday he said WA remained at risk and the health restrictions would be extended to 6 am on January 4.

The premier also said there was little chance the WA border would be reopened before the planned date of February 5.

The state recorded one new case on Monday, a woman in her 20s who was close contact with the index case.
