Man shot by police after alleged stabbing murder

An alleged homicide and subsequent police shooting are under investigation in Queensland.

Queensland police were called to Running Creek Road, at Kilkivan, northwest of Gympie, just after 3pm on Friday following reports of a disturbance.

They arrived to find a 55-year-old Kilkivan man with critical stab wounds.

The man was pronounced dead at the scene a short time later.

A second person, a 42-year-old Kilkivan man, was shot by police after he allegedly threatened them with a knife.

The man was airlifted to Sunshine Coast University Hospital in a critical condition.

A crime scene has been declared and police investigations are continuing.

This matter is under investigation by Ethical Standards Command with the investigation subject to oversight by the Crime and Corruption Commission.
