Meth worth $5 million seized on Gold Coast in huge haul disguised as tea

A vehicle intercept on the Gold Coast has led to the discovery of almost $5 million worth of drugs disguised as tea, police say.
Two people have been charged after 35 kilograms of methamphetamine was allegedly seized from the car at Mudgeeraba.
Police said detectives intercepted a Toyota RAV4 on the Pacific Motorway about 7.30pm on Monday, locating two large sports bags.
They allegedly contained 35 bags of meth concealed in packages to look like imported tea.
Police said it had an estimated street value of more than $4.7 million.
The driver and sole occupant, a 41-year-old woman from NSW, has been remanded in custody after being charged with a number of drug offences.
She is due to appear in Southport Magistrates Court on Tuesday.
Police said further investigations led to a raid on an Eagleby residence south of Brisbane, where a “large amount” of cash and 1kg of cannabis was found.
A 44-year-old man has been charged with a number of drug offences and is set to appear in Beenleigh Magistrates Court on April 8.
