A woman who was charged with assault after allegedly throwing an egg at the Australian Prime Minister has briefly fronted a NSW Court.

Amber Holt, 24, was charged with common assault and possessing a prohibited drug after she allegedly tried to smash an egg on Scott Morrison’s head while he was campaigning at a Country Women’s Association (CWA) event in Albury earlier this month.

Police found cannabis on Ms Holt during a search after she was taken in to custody on May 7 — the day she allegedly egged the PM.

Holt has pleaded guilty to possessing a prohibited drug, but her lawyer told the court the accused will seek further representation regarding the common assault charge.

The egg did not smash, however a 70-year-old woman was knocked over during the incident.

There will be more discussion between Ms Holt’s lawyer and the prosecution about the specifics surrounding the common assault charge.

She remains on bail and will return to Albury Local Court in July.

Police allege Ms Holt walked up behind Scott Morrison and threw an egg, which bounced off his head.

The day he was egged, Mr Morrison said he was concerned for the elderly lady, Margaret Baxter, who was knocked over.

“I helped her up and gave her a hug,” he tweeted.

The day she was knocked over, Ms Baxter said she fell on her hip but was not in pain.

“I’d recently had surgery on my stomach so my main concern was holding my stomach to make sure it didn’t get hit or someone land on it,” she said.
