Lifestyles of the rich and the famous: Rinehart’s retreat and more

If you can't afford to buy a multi million dollar house, maybe try renting Gina Rinehart's for $1,300 per week.

Former St Kilda star Sam Fisher may have dropped out of football, but he’s kicking goals in the property field.

The retired Saints defender has handballed his spacious Beaumaris townhouse, complete with outdoor spa and hidden basement theatre room, to a family from Hamilton for $1.66 million.

Fisher developed the sleek three-bedder and its twin next door with a friend, pocketing some extra change after it eclipsed the $1.58million+ price tag.

The townhouse at 19 Hastings Ave is a drop punt from local shops and Mentone beach, and sold a day before the scheduled July 7 auction.

Sam Fisher’s townhouse with a spacious downstairs living area is fit for a family.

“He’s ecstatic with the price,” said Hodges director and auctioneer Jason C. Swift.

“I’ve known Sam for a while, and he’s wanting to stay in the area but is looking at his options.

“A lot of townhouses don’t cater so much cater to families, but the advantage of this one is the big extra living area for the children.”

Offspring glamour

Former newsreader Helen Kapalos channelled the vibe of Channel 10’s Offspring – where Asher Keddie’s character once lived a funky warehouse conversion – when buying her own industrial-style Collingwood digs for $755,000 in July 2012.

The sale of the two-bed converted warehouse at 11/109 Oxford St has caused such a frenzy, the agents recently hiked the price to $1,095,000 – $1,204,500, up from the initial quote of $980,000 to $1,078,000.

This two bedroom Oxford St warehouse takes space and sophisticated up a class.

“We’ve been blown away, the first open inspection we had there were 46 groups through,” says agent Sam Goddard, of Abercromby’s.

“We are calling it factory to fabulous, she’s very trendy and has styled it herself. People really love this space, the ceiling heights, the flow of the home … the two car parks are another factor.”

The lucky buyer will be in good company with Offspring star Linda Cropper, who plays eccentric Proudman family matriarch Geraldine, reportedly settling on a pad in the nearby Gibsonia development.

Billionaire’s home up for grabs

In Brisbane, mining mogul Gina Rinehart is giving people a taste of the billionaire lifestyle by renting out her swish riverside property at 61 Sutton Street, Chelmer.

Is it really a celebrity property without a pool? Gina Rinehart’s certainly is.

The two level, four-bedroom home was rented out last week while it remains on the market to sell, with the new tenants getting a glimpse into life as Australia’s richest woman. It’s believed the rent was slashed from the $1500 a week asking price to $1300, a sharp drop from the $2000 a week it fetched in 2012.

Kyrgios family holiday

Over the border, tennis bad boy Nick Kyrgios, 22, is the talk of the town in coastal Tuross Head, on the south coast for NSW, after it emerged his family bought a holiday home for $583,000.

It’s a basic two-storey house with a dated interior but the drawcard is the ocean views, visible from most rooms.

Rugging up

Rug dealer Bob Cadry, of the renowned Cadry family empire, has again bought into Sydney’s prestigious Bellevue Hill, snapping up 45 Benelong Crescent for $4.2 million.

He sold 31a Bunyula Road in the suburb last year for a cool $4 million and has plans to move into the new five-bedroom abode, which is currently tenanted.

A touch of Hollywood

Meanwhile, if you have a spare $23-$25 million handy, you can live like a Hollywood star on the same Vaucluse street as Angelina Jolie when she filmed Unbroken in 2013.

Expressions of interest are being sought for a luxury four-bed, five-bath residence with Sydney Harbour views at number 10 Queens Ave, an exclusive strip paved with gold.

Jolie is believed to have bunkered down in the cul-de-sac with her six kids in the 1920s Vaucluse mansion Villa Igiea.
