Seven free, easy workouts you can do at home

Unless you can afford a personal trainer, home gym or tailored wellness program like Beyonce, getting fit and staying fit can be a challenge.

Thankfully, there’s the internet – and it houses a wealth of material for toning up, slimming down and working out.

• Exercise and the great weight loss myth
How much exercise do we actually need?

For the following videos, you’ll need nothing more than yourself, some personal space and perhaps a carpet or yoga mat.

They’re broken down over different areas of the body, so identify your problem area and settle in for an afternoon of sweating it out – no strings attached.

Arms

Tracy Anderson’s Goop routine

The celebrity trainer is best friends with Gwyneth Paltrow. This deceptive arm workout was created specifically for Gwyneth’s site Goop. It might look easy, but the dorky dance moves actually make you feel the burn in areas you didn’t know you had.

Chest workout, no weights

For those with a bit more upper body strength, this arm and chest workout is a series of varied push-ups.

Legs

Luscious legs lottery

Ignore the super cheesy name, this leg workout is no joke. Using various parts of your home, Autumn Calabrese will ensure you exercise so hard you can’t walk the next day (that’s a good thing).

Chair workout

For this one, all you need is a chair. Trainer Natalie Jill moves slowly through the simple movements which help you tone your lower half. Plus, there’s always the bonus that you can collapse into the chair when the going gets too tough.

Core

Nine exercises for flat abs

This nearly eight-minute video has over 7000 comments, most of them positive. Through a series of simple leg lifts, trainer Rebecca-Louise promises to get you a flatter stomach. Plus, there are some really cute dogs in this video for all the animal lovers out there.

Yoga

Yoga with Adriene

This simple, laid-back routine is designed to pull you out of the winter blues, but it works just as well if you’re stuck in a rut or a sugar low. Austin-based yogi Adriene is easygoing, friendly and fun to watch, too.

Full body

Beyonce’s ‘Let’s Move’ dance

Because who doesn’t dream of dancing like Queen Bey? Her choreographer Frank Gatson Jr. breaks down an easy routine to go along with her song ‘Get Me Bodied’. He also shares some great warm-up tips. Not only is this a fun workout, it’s an awesome routine to pull out at parties.
