The Morning Show host Larry Emdur is sporting a six-pack after shedding 13 kilograms for his 50th birthday.

The popular Australian TV personality and father-of-two embarked on a six-month health and fitness transformation in 2014, the Daily Mail has reported, with the goal to be fit and toned for the big 5-0 in December.

“I decided I wanted to be 50 and fit not 50 and f*****,” Emdur recently told his Instagram followers.

Emdur, who began his heath kick at 83 kilograms, is now in the running to win Australian Men’s Health’s Man of the Year title.

“I’ve given this my best shot and now aged 50, with your support, I could be the oldest Men’s Health cover guy ever,” he posted.

Voting has now closed for the annual competition, which was last year won by Aussie-born Hollywood heartthrob Hugh Jackman.

The list of eight contenders includes former Olympic swimmer Michael Klim, former rugby league star Matt Cooper and Home And Away hunk Michael Pryor.

Just before votes closed, Emdur turned to social media to thank his supporters and update them on his progress, posting a photo montage of his weight loss journey.

“It was bloody hard work and I’m very realistic about my chances against super athletes and ripped dudes 15 years younger than me, but my goal was to be 50 and fit not 50 and f***** so I guess I’ve won that personal battle already,” Emdur wrote.
