The striking ski town of Sölden in Austria is set to become one of the world’s hottest travel destinations.

Why? The beautiful resort has been confirmed as a filming location for the upcoming James Bond film Spectre.

“From December 2014 until February 2015 Sölden will be one of the locations where filming for the new James Bond Movie will take place,” Oliver Schwarz, CEO of the Sölden Tourism Board, announced in a press release.

“We kindly ask for your understanding once filming commences; some areas will be subject to close downs or restricted usability.”

Known for its stunning valleys, unique architecture and glacial surrounds, the town is an obvious backdrop for the titillating action of the Bond films.

Possibly one of Sölden’s most iconic features, and a confirmed filming location, is the Ice Q restaurant perched atop the 3048 metre high Gaislachkogl peak.

With entire walls of sheer glass, the restaurant provides virtually unobstructed views of its stunning surrounds.

Filming is also set to take place on glacier roads and tunnels, hinting at a potentially epic car chase scene.

The exact dates of production are yet to be confirmed, however, and Mr Schwarz has warned the filming will be weather dependent.

Up until now, Sölden was best known for hosting the annual Alpine Ski World Cup Opening.

It boasts 144 kilometres of ski slopes and near-perfect conditions year-round thanks to advanced snow-making systems.

Spectre, which is slated for release in late 2015, will see Daniel Craig reprise his role as James Bond, while French actress Lea Seydoux and Italian actress Monica Bellucci will join the cast as Bond girls.
