Dr Chris Brown’s first gig at the Seven Network has been confirmed after months of speculation.

Earlier this year, it was reported that Dream Home would be coming to Seven and at the time there was talk that he would host the show.

On Monday, Seven confirmed that Dr Brown will host two shows, one of which will be Dream Home.

The second TV show Dr Brown will be involved in remains unnamed but Seven described it as a “spectacular new adventure series, taking in some of the most mind-blowing scenery on the planet, all in pursuit of the ultimate animal encounter”.

Dream Home and the untitled series will go into production later this year, Seven said.

“To be able to bring my world of animals to life in an original, adventurous and breathtaking way truly excites me,” Dr Brown said, according to TV Blackbox.

“I can’t wait for the world’s wildlife and the search for Australia’s best Dream Home to land in our lounge rooms in 2024.”

What do we know about Dream Home?

Dream Home ran for 11 seasons in New Zealand between 1999 and 2013.

The original format involved having two couples work together to renovate a dilapidated house.

However, it is expected the Australian version of the show will be updated for a 2024 audience.

Contestants will get a free makeover for their home while competing for a life-changing cash prize.

Although it is a renovation show, the casting call posted by EndemolShine Australia said contestants don’t need to be a builder or a tradie, “just someone with an eye for design and a drive to get your hands dirty”.

Australians do love a reno show, with The Block being a staple on Channel Nine for many years.

In May this year, after it was announced Dream Home would be coming to Seven, The Block‘s creator Julian Cress told The New Daily he wasn’t too worried about a bit of competition.

He said over the years, other networks have put forward new renovation shows, but The Block has remained.

“It doesn’t seem like they are coming at us with anything new. But good luck to them. I wish them well,” he said.
