Surry Hills inferno

Horrific scenes unfolded in Sydney’s Surry Hills on Thursday afternoon, when an abandoned building became engulfed by flames.

The heritage-listed former hat factory ended up collapsing and now, two children are assisting police with enquiries. It took 120 firefighters to put out the enormous blaze.

After Mr DeSantis made an announcement on Twitter Spaces that he was running for president, his Republican rival, Donald Trump mocked the ordeal in the most Trump way possible.

Mr DeSantis’ announcement on Twitter Spaces was plagued by technical issues, and Mr Trump responded by sharing a parody of it to his own social media platform, Truth Social. (Warning, there’s some explicit language in this one.)

Trevi Fountain protest

Climate protesters used diluted charcoal to turn Rome’s Trevi Fountain black this week.

The group, Ultima Generazione (Last Generation) were protesting against the use of fossil fuels and the protest was filmed by tourists.

Richmond’s coach steps down

Richmond’s triple premiership-winning coach Damien Hardwick announced he was stepping down, effective immediately, this week saying he needed a break.

Actresses Michelle Yeoh and Brie Larson took to the dance floor while at the Kering Women in Motion Dinner.

Decorum call gets a laugh

Far-right Republican Marjorie Taylor Greene was met with laughter when she called for the members to “abide by decorum” while in the House.

On several occasions, Greene has acted without decorum and heckled Democrats and, as the Huffington Post pointed out, has liked posts calling for Democrats to be killed.

TikTok serves Qantas nostalgia

A TikTok couple encapsulated the spirit of Australia and even got the attention of Qantas, with the airline saying it was the “best” video ever.
