Hot off the success of her Padam Padam pop song and a Las Vegas residency, Australian singer Kylie Minogue has secured her own one-off live special at London’s Royal Albert Hall.

Britain’s Huffington Post reported on Wednesday (AEST) that ITV would show An Audience With… special featuring Minogue on December 1.

Minogue previously hosted her own An Audience With back in 2001 during the show’s original run. She performed with Kermit the Frog and sang Especially For You.

She’ll also follow in the footsteps of Adele, who, in 2021 performed An Audience With after the UK broadcaster revived the classic format for a special event.

The December show will include Minogue answering questions from celebrities in the audience, as well as performing songs from her huge catalogue of work spanning four decades.

ITV said the special would take the series “to the next level”.

‘I can’t wait’

In a statement, Minogue said she “can’t wait to share this moment with you all”.

“I will be performing some of my favourite tracks from throughout my career and no doubt answering some surprising questions from the audience.”

Minogue has ridden a wave of success this year, with her latest single Padam Padam – which vaguely translates to beating heart – giving her her first British top 10 hit in more than a decade.

The UK’s Radio Times says An Audience With… was launched in 1978 with six shows fronted by comedian Jasper Carrott.

Since then, several big names have taken to the stage for one-off performances – including Victoria Wood, Shirley Bassey, Sir Cliff Richard and Take That.

Minogue, 55, has come a long way since her Neighbours and Locomotion pop song days, clocking up 15 concert tours since 1989 – and selling more than 80 million records over four decades.

She is one of Australia’s most valuable musical exports of the modern era.

She has had eight British No.1 albums, won three BRIT awards, two MTV awards and a Grammy and is the only female artist to score a No.1 album in five consecutive decades in the UK.

Her Las Vegas residency at the newly curated Voltaire Club inside the The Venetian Resort opens in November. There, Minogue will perform to audiences of just 1000.

Celine Dion, Adele, Britney Spears, Elton John and Lady Gaga have all enjoyed extended residencies, raking in multimillion-dollar Vegas paydays including merchandise and bonuses.

At a recent press conference in Los Angeles, Minogue said she had “earned the right to be there”, reported the BBC.

“I’ve got some versions of songs that have not been heard, like reinterpretations of songs, which is exciting. Live bed dances, amazing costumes,” she said.

“I was thinking years ago, I want to do it when I’m younger, like, I don’t want to do it when I’m at the sunset of my career. So, I think I’ve got it right somewhere in the middle where I feel like I’ve earned the right to  have the experience to really enjoy being there.”
