Last weekend, Barbenheimer took hold and while some were going to see either Barbie or Oppenheimer, some were going to see both. One creative person absolutely nailed their outfit.

Mitch McConnell freezes

During a speech about a defence policy bill, Republican Mitch McConnell suddenly froze and had to be escorted away from the media.

After the unsettling incident, McConnell returned and said he was fine, although an aide said he was light-headed and needed to step away for a moment.

Stunt man’s strike action

Mike Massa, who was Harrison Ford’s stunt double in the latest Indiana Jones flick, set himself on fire during a SAG-AFTRA rally, adding that stunt professionals are “tired of being burned by the AMPTP”.

Hollywood actors and writers are still on strike, after both unions failed to reach agreements with the major studios. Both unions want better pay and assurance AI won’t take their jobs.

Hozier honours Sinead O’Connor

Irish singer-songwriter Hozier was among the many musicians who paid tribute to Sinead O’Connor after her death.

Reporter’s ‘dangerous’ question

A BBC reporter asked the captain of Morocco’s Women’s World Cup team, Ghizlane Chebbak, whether any of her teammates were gay.

In Morocco, same-sex intimacy is criminalised, so the question was slammed for putting Chebbak on the spot and the BBC subsequently apologised. In the moment, the moderator told the reporter the question was “too political”.

Goofy Scorsese

Francesca Scorsese has shown the world another side to her father, the legendary film director Martin Scorsese.

In the TikTok video, Scorsese was goofy, laughing and playing with dogs, which had everyone fawning over him.

Dog spa

A dog was treated to an immersive spa experience this week, with steam and massage included.

The video has millions of likes on TikTok, with some viewers noting that the dog was living a better, more pampered life than they were.

Otis returns

Beloved elder bear Otis has returned and bear lovers all over the world are rejoicing.

Otis was captured on camera in Brooks Falls in Alaska this week, marking his first appearance for 2023. Otis could be as old as 28, making him one of the oldest bears in the world.

Who knew that baby capybaras are called pups? San Diego Zoo shared some cute footage of the pups this week.
