A generous British boss appears to have already won this year’s silly season by sending her entire staff to Spain for the office Christmas party.

Arabella Lewis-Smith, founder of Dorset-based creative agency Salad, paid to jet her 20 workers to Madrid over the weekend.

Her company reportedly picked up the bill for the return flights, the cost of two nights of accomodation and two dinners.

“Although our festivities are always rather special, it’s been a dream of mine for many years to take our Christmas party abroad,” Ms Lewis-Smith wrote on the company’s website.

“Hopping on a plane and exploring a new city together, in my eyes, is quite a significant way to commend the team for a prosperous year.”

The team reportedly shared an “enormous” apartment in the Spanish capital, and explored the city in small groups. The lucky workers drank cocktails, ate tapas and went clubbing.

The Madrid trip was an upgrade on last year’s celebration – a trip to a West End show. It reportedly cost around $10,000.

One of the big reasons Salad was celebrating a “prosperous year” was that the company won a contract to deliver a website to keep fans up to date on Team England’s progress during the Commonwealth Games on the Gold Coast in 2018. So Australians will be able to see the fruits of the team’s labour.

Ms Lewis-Smith founded the creative agency 16 years ago. And the good news is, Salad is looking to hire three new full-time staff in 2018.
