Thousands of “big industry” employees are spilling company secrets on a Reddit thread that’s revealing the tricks corporations don’t want the public to know.

So far the revelations have been incredibly diverse, with secrets divulged about the insurance industry, home cleaning goods, television, the music business and even sunglasses.

A bottle of Windex “is basically 95 per cent water, 4 per cent ammonia, and 1 per cent blue dye/fragrance,” according to Reddit user joecoooool418.

Windex essentially confirmed this in 2011 when its manufacturer SC Johnson released powder concentrate which could be mixed with water to make Windex.

SC Johnson Australia did not return The New Daily’s calls.

They’re all well-known sunglasses brands. And they’re all made by the exact same manufacturer.

“Most designer sunglass brands are made by one company called Luxottica,” Reddit user nibbor wrote.

Luxottica also owns numerous sunglasses retailers, including Australian favourites the Sunglasses Hut and OPSM.

Biggest Loser trainers absent

Two users – one claiming to be a former The Biggest Loser US (TBL) contestant and another who said his or her sister was a contestant – alleged that US judges Jillian and Bob were barely around.

“Jillian and Bob were there two maybe three days a week. They make it seem like they live there,” Ahamp22 wrote.

While Enkaem wrote: “I was a contestant on TBL. This is a fact. We mostly spend our days working out by ourselves, or with sub-trainers that the celebrity trainers send in”.

Network 10 declined to comment on the absentee rates of the Australian hosts.

Half-baked freshness

Reddit user rbarton812 claimed that most supermarket bakery products come in frozen and are then half baked by staff.

“A friend of mine is a bakery girl for a supermarket … I’d spend half my shift on dead nights talking to her while she put little frozen bagels or rolls out for the morning crew to bake,” the user wrote.

The New Daily spoke to bakery workers from Coles and Woolworths who confirmed some bread, pastry and cakes came into the supermarkets frozen.

Coles confirmed to The New Daily that some of its bakery goods were baked from a frozen state.

Woolworths did not confirm or deny that it used frozen goods in its bakery, simply saying its bakeries contained some products that were freshly baked.

Is this show on fast-forward?

In the United States, cable television channels are subtly speeding up programs to fit more ads in, according to Reddit user Borkencode.

The Wall Street Journal revealed a similar phenomenon was occurring, reporting that several stations used technology to play shows quicker to accommodate more ads.

The New Daily contacted Channel 7, the Nine Network, Foxtel and Network Ten to find out if this occurs in Australia.

Foxtel and Channel 7 said they did not speed up programs.
