Richard Branson may just be your dream boss.
The billionaire Virgin founder has made a bold business move, allowing all the staff in his Virgin Group head offices to take as many holidays as they want.
• Work satisfaction is the recipe for success
The new policy applies to roughly 160 employees from the company’s main offices in New York, London, Geneva or Sydney.
Under the policy, Virgin staff will not have to seek approval prior to taking leave and their days off will not be tallied.
The aim is to increase productivity, maintain morale and encourage efficient time management.
In a blog post, titled “Why we’re letting Virgin staff take as much holiday as they want”, Branson says he was inspired to adopt the “non-policy” policy by Netflix, another company who don’t track their employees’ leave.
“It is left to the employee alone to decide if and when he or she feels like taking a few hours, a day, a week or a month off, the assumption being that they are only going to do it when they feel a hundred per cent comfortable that they and their team are up to date on every project,” Branson writes.
The 64-year-old added that Virgin subsidiaries would also adopt the vacation policy if it proved successful.
