 While rock fans mourn the passing of the Big Day Out summer rock festival, Melbourne will host the Big Super Day Out on Saturday January 14 2017.

The day is organised by the First Nations Foundation and is designed to encourage Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people to engage with their superannuation, think about their future and plan for their retirement.

Attendees will have the opportunity to:

  • obtain general advice and support regarding superannuation; consolidate super accounts;
  • check for unclaimed super;
  • enjoy live music and a BBQ.

The event is scheduled to run from 2pm-9pm on Saturday 14 January 2017 at the Footscray Community Arts Centre in conjunction with the Wominjeka Festival.

bsdo-melbourne-jpegDavid Atkin, Cbus CEO, said “Superannuation is an important part of the retirement landscape but it hasn’t always delivered for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people. The Big Super Day Out is one step towards addressing this important issue which Cbus is proud to support.”

Amanda Young, First Nations Foundation CEO, said “Super is a hot topic in the Indigenous community nationally. To encourage our First Nations people to get more involved with their superannuation we have used this outreach model, partnering with an Indigenous community event and the superannuation sector.”

“It has been hugely successful and we are delighted at the continuing support from Cbus in bringing the Big Super Day Out to Melbourne,” Ms Young said.
