Construction beats forecasts
The amount of construction work done in Australia rose 2.7 per cent in the September quarter, according to official data.
Over the year to September, the volume of construction work done was up 1.3 per cent, the Australian Bureau of Statistics said on Wednesday.
The ABS said total building work done in the September quarter, including homes and non-residential buildings like offices and shops, rose 1.5 per cent from the June quarter.
Engineering work done, which includes mines, roads, bridges and the like, was up 3.5 per cent in the quarter.
The median forecast among economists was for total construction work done to have risen 0.5 per cent in the quarter.
