New committee to guide future marine projects

The Western Australian Government has formed a new committee to oversee the development of future marine projects and facilities in Bunbury.

The Member for Bunbury, John Castrilli, will chair the Bunbury Marine Facilities Steering Committee’s first meeting next month.

It committee includes representatives from a number of Government agencies, the Bunbury Port Authority and the South-West Development Commission.

Mr Castrilli says the committee features key industry members and will oversee marine developments in the Koombana Bay area.

“We’ve got all the major players all there and it’s been great because the marine alliance, I think they’ve got about 26 members, supporters and stakeholders in their group, and of course we’ll be looking at all the marine and shore-based facilities,” he said.

“[It will] bring some increased vitality to our CBD and it’s going to … [bring] really important economic and tourism benefits for the region as a whole and I think with all the players all sort of headed in the right direction and supporting each other, it’s the right way to go.”
