Two cheeses sold at supermarkets across the country have been recalled amid fears of listeria contamination.

Food Standards Australia and New Zealand issued the recall for the Snowbrand Australia products on Sunday.

They are sold as Unicorn Classic Camembert and Community Co French-style Camembert, both in 125-gram packets.

The cheeses were sold at Woolworths in Victoria, NSW, South Australia and Tasmania and IGAs in Queensland and Victoria. They have also been available at Natures Best, V&C Food Distributors and Bills Cheese and Yoghurts in NSW, and Our United Food Co in Queensland.

The recall notice was issued by FSANZ.

FSANZ said the recall was due to potential contamination with Listeria monocytogenes.

“Listeria may cause illness in pregnant women and their unborn babies, the elderly and people with low immune systems,” FSANZ said.

Consumers who are concerned about their health are urged to seek medical advice.

Anyone who has the affected cheeses should return to where they were purchased, for a full refund.
