The Bachelorette’s favourite confounds by passing on a date

One of Georgia Love’s favourite contestants left everyone scratching their heads on Thursday night’s episode of The Bachelorette when he passed up a kiss in an awkward end to their date, passing up the opportunity for more one-on-one time.

Courtney, who received a “First Impression Rose” from Georgia, cashed in his free date by organising a day in the northern beaches.

But after everything went perfectly with a little water sports followed by pirate dress-ups while eating fish and chips, he left Georgia stunned with an awkward hug and peck on the cheek.

Georgia wanted a proper kiss.

Watch it:

“He went in and … gave me a hug,” Georgia said. “Ohh! I really wanted to kiss him.”

Courtney told the audience: “There was definitely a moment where I thought, ‘Do I kiss her? Do I not kiss her? Do I go for it? Do I hold back? What do I do?’ I think today I was a little more shy than I thought I would be.”

But then later in the episode on the group date, even though Tommy and Matt won a billy cart challenge, Courtney had the power to pick anyone he wanted to spend one-on-one time with Georgia.

He could have even picked himself. He didn’t. He picked Tommy. Bizarre.

“I’m a bit disappointed Courtney didn’t choose himself,” Georgia said. “But kudos to him for picking someone else. That’s a very gallant thing to do.”

At the cocktail party she confronted Courtney about his choice.

He responded: “I don’t think it’s fair that I have more time with you than any of the other boys.

“I don’t wanna see anyone go home not having enough time with you and not putting their best foot forward. Tommy’s a great guy, and I wanted you to see a side of him that we’ve seen and you haven’t.”

It worked in the end, because Tommy was sent home.

Oh, and there was this concerning admission from Courtney earlier in the date: “This is when I find girls the most attractive, when they’re in a natural setting and they’re about to do something that they haven’t done before.”

Ok, mate.

Masterchef comes to The Bachelor

Jake and Sam had been planning something during the week and all of the other contestants were concerned about what was in store.

Cameron observed the usually unflappable pair was struggling to keep their nervous energy concealed.

“Sam and Jake are two guys that never get nervous. And right now, they look nervous as hell,” Cameron said.

So what did they do? They made an intricate dessert for Georgia.

It was a chocolate sphere which concealed another dessert inside. But to reveal it they had to pour hot chocolate on it to melt the sphere.

It worked, but only just. They initially couldn’t get the chocolate to pour out from the pourer (see below).

Georgia loved it.
