Sunrise host Samantha Armytage has taken a swipe at a betting company that attacked the Channel Seven morning show on social media.

Armytage took to Twitter on Wednesday to respond to online betting company Sportsbet after it accused her and co-host David Koch of ignoring Australia’s Olympic achievements.

“Channel 7 rolling with the hard-hitting news instead of the Matildas and Sam Stosur…” the company posted on Twitter along with a still from a Sunrise report on online dating.

Armytage, 39, was quick to point out the still was taken from an old broadcast.

“That clip [was] from last year,” Armytage wrote. “Maybe turn on your TV TODAY @sportsbetcomau. We’re covering Stosur and Matildas non-stop.”

To prove her point, Armytage also shared a photograph of herself wearing a completely different outfit than the one in the screenshot.

“Heh @sportsbetcomau .. This is today’s outfit. Stop spouting rubbish & running clips from 12 months ago,” she captioned the photo.

The social media managers at Sportsbet were clearly unfazed by Armytage’s dig, choosing to respond by taking another swipe, this time at Koch’s fashion sense.

“Sorry @sam_armytage, you got us. We pulled this from our file marked: Kochie’s all time most shocking ties,” the company tweeted.

Many of Armytage’s 161,000 Twitter followers leapt to her defence, but others sided with Sportsbet, calling Channel Seven’s Olympic coverage “a joke”.
