‘I’m A Celeb’ tumbles as ‘MKR’ dominates ratings

The Block Triple Threat and I’m A Celebrity … Get Me Out of Here! were dominated by My Kitchen Rules in the ratings on Monday, with neither show making the Top 10 for the night.

Just one day into its high profile season, I’m A Celebrity’s numbers fell by more than 400,000 viewers to slip from third to 14th spot with an audience of 755,000, while The Block: Triple Threat continued to struggle, coming in 12th with a little over 800,000 viewers.

· There is great local TV, but who’s watching?
· Philip Seymour Hoffman’s greatest performances

MKR, the highest rating reality show of 2014, returned with 1.596 million viewers. It was followed by Seven, Nine and ABC News, and a repeat of The Big Bang Theory in the Top 10.

The poor ratings for The Block and I’m A Celebrity signal tough times ahead for the shows.

Network Ten have seemingly spent a fortune on the Australian edition of I’m A Celebrity, hiring former Brady Bunch star Mauren McCormick (aka Marcia Brady) to add some much needed international depth to the show.

For the latest season of The Block, things should improve as the new contestant get knocked out to be replaced by former, more popular contestants.
