The American actor will star in a special one-off episode to raise funds for British broadcaster ITV’s Christmas appeal, and will play an American wedding guest at the Crawley family

Clooney has several ties to Downtown Abbey, he has previously admitted to being a fan of the show and recently became good friends with actor Hugh Bonneville who plays Robert Crawley in the drama.

A teaser clip has been released online, with the full episode airing on December 18.
