Network Ten has everything from celebrities losing it in the South African jungle, a pair of the ultimate teen heartthrobs in the new CSI offering and even a Neighbours cameo from Kylie Minogue to look forward to in 2015.

On Thursday, Ten embraced the jungle theme to launch a slate of new shows for 2015, specifically I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here!

· ‘Gruen Transfer’ to return to ABC in 2015

From the African drummers that opened the presentation to the opulent greenery adorning anything that sat still, there was no doubt Ten was placing a lot of emphasis on their next piece of “must watch” television.

The British format of I’m A Celebrity, which has run for 14 seasons on ITV since 2002, is shot in Australia, but the Australian – and overseas – “celebrities” taking part in the inaugural local season will find themselves isolated in Africa.

While the identities of the “celebrities” (it seems advisable to keep using quotes on that word for now) remain a closely guarded secret that Ten hopes to keep until the show goes to air, they did announce the hosts with Ten’s celebrity vet Chris Brown joined by a face more closely associated with the Nine Network, comedian Julia Morris.

Two other shows took pride of place under the spotlight. Shark Tank, hosted by Sarah Harris, will see Australians pitch their inventions to a panel of muli-millionaires for potential investment. The “sharks” in this local version of a successful US format will be Janine Allis (Boost Juice), Andrew Banks (Talent2), Steve Baxter (internet pioneer), John McGrath (McGrath Estate Agents) and Naomi Simson (Red Balloon).

The other was Gogglebox, the co-production with Foxtel announced at the latter’s upfronts, which will let Australians watch Australians watching television 24 hours after they watched it on Foxtel.

There was also news for some of Ten’s existing success stories. The Biggest Loser will return to a ‘Families’ theme next year after the show gets “its own makeover”, as will MasterChef after the success of its return to basics this year.

Ten were understandably keen to stress that ratings aren’t the only way to judge success – though happy to proclaim the ratings triumph of Family Feud – and enjoyed demonstrating the discussion of The Bachelor on rival networks Nine and Seven. The show will return at the end of next year and after its headline grabbing efforts this year, it will be joined by The Bachelorette.

Network Ten Executive Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Hamish McLennan also said the network were “working on” finding a way of continuing beloved drama Offspring. Both the network and the show’s producers are keen to commission more episodes, however there is a financial impediment to further seasons as the governments funding model changes after a show has made five seasons. There was no mention of producer John Edwards’ other Ten dramas Puberty Blues and the low-rating Party Tricks.

On the factual side, Ten will broadcast Mary: The Making Of A Princess, The Peter Brock Story, a Neighbours 30 Years Special with appearances from Kylie Minogue, Jason Donovan, Guy Pearce and other alumni, as well as a series of mini-documentaries entitled The First ANZACs based on letters and diaries, to mark the centenary of that military campaign.

A particular generation in the room let out a gasp at the announcement of the cast members for one of the network’s US imports: CSI: Cyber in which Medium’s Patricia Arquette will co-star with James Van Der Beek and Luke Perry. Two former teen crushes combined in the guise of Dawson from Dawson’s Creek and Dylan from Beverly Hills 90210.

Another familiar face was Friends star Matthew Perry as the network highlighted his remake of The Odd Couple.

“Ten is coming back with a roar” claimed McLennan, having started by admitting things have been “a little patchy.” While Seven and Ten won’t be quaking at the thought of being pursued by a predator back from the wild just yet, they may at least have a glance over their shoulder.
