Big Bang Theory dominates list of top 10 TV shows

US sitcom The Big Bang Theory was a clear ratings winner with its audience numbers on Monday about double that of locally made reality show The Big Adventure.

The two series went head-to-head on Monday with a first run half hour episode of The Big Bang Theory (7.30m-8pm) attracting an audience of 1.221 million to be the number one show.

A repeat of episode of The Big Bang Theory (8-8.30pm) filled second place with 1.156 million viewers on on OzTAM’s overnight ratings.

The Seven Network’s new reality series The Big Adventure, which had a low key promotion, is struggling badly in the ratings.

On Monday it was 16th overall with 662,000 viewers and was beaten in its timeslot by Network Ten’s Territory Cops (670,000), which aired from 8-8.30pm, and The Australian Story (928,000).

The Australian Story’s second and final part of an investigation into the disappearance of 13-year-old Prue Bird was seventh overall.

The Big Adventure had an insignificant timeslot win over Ten’s Gold Coast Cops (647,000) in the 7.30-8pm timeslot.

Coincidentally, The Big Adventure has elements of two other reality show failures for Seven, The Mole and The Amazing Race.

It was also a bleak night for Seven’s imported crime series The Blacklist which was 21st in the nightly line-up with 593,000 viewers.

The Blacklist was a regular in the top 10 for Seven but it has not had the same success this season.

Nine’s reality show Big Brother was up six places and about 50,000 viewers on last Monday’s corresponding episode.

The introduction of four intruders attracted 702,000 viewers to be 12th overall.
