‘Housewives’ get second season

The ladies of exclusive Melbourne suburbs Toorak, Malvern and Hawthorn will once again get their time in the sun with Foxtel’s announcement that The Real Housewives of Melbourne will return to our screens for a second season.

The pay-TV channel has confirmed that the second series will begin filming later this year, but a cast list and air time are yet to be announced.

The announcement comes as no surprise given the success of the first season. The show premiere received a cumulative audience of 542,000 viewers – the largest ever for a Foxtel reality program.

The chosen housewives – lawyer Gina Liano, property developer Janet Roach, caterer Chyka Keebaugh, businesswoman Andrea Moss, psychic Jackie Gillies and mother Lydia Schiavello – spent the first season embroiled in scandal and cat fights, generating ideal tabloid fodder as they traversed the streets of Melbourne’s wealthiest areas.

The second part of the reunion episode will air this Sunday, May 11 at 8.30pm on Arena.
Melbourne is the most recent city to join the global Housewives franchise, joining Beverly Hills, New York, Atlanta, Vancouver and others.
