‘MKR’ semi-final gets close to three million views

Crafty South Australian cooks Jessica and Bree have put an end to the My Kitchen Rules aspirations of twins Helena and Vikki Moursellas by winning Monday’s cut-throat semi-final that was watched by a massive 2.95 million Australians (2 million metro), beating it’s closest competitor Nine News by more than a million viewers.

The Adelaide mums will take on trash-talking travellers Chloe and Kelly in MKR‘s grand final on the Seven Network tonight with the winners pocketing $250,000.

It’s been a rough ride to the finale for Bree and Jessica who had to win two sudden-death cook-offs during the preliminary rounds just to reach the penultimate episode. On both of those occasions they won by a solitary point but in Monday’s semi-final there was no close call.

Bree and Jessica were far too experienced and consistent for their younger rivals, who have surprised the judges with their cooking skills, to win 52 to 42 to advance to the finale.

There was no consolation cash for Vikki and Helena but they have managed to snare a book deal. The cook book will be launched in March next year with only new recipes.

“Whatever is in our cook book will have nothing to do with My Kitchen Rules,” Vikki said. “A lot of the recipes are from our family and we have added our own touch. It’s all very exciting.”

The finale of My Kitchen Rules finale will screen at 7.30pm on Tuesday, April 29, 2014.
