Midnight Oil were forced to cut short their Melbourne concert last night when guitarist Jim Moginie slipped and fell on stage.

The band were performing at the Sidney Myer Music Bowl when Moginie appeared to trip during an encore.

Fans at the concert posted on social media to wish the veteran guitarist a speedy recovery.

“Thanks to all at the Myer Music Bowl tonight. Sorry for the short encore but Jim took a spill and hurt his leg at end of main set. Wishing him a quick recovery,” the band wrote on Facebook.

Midnight Oil are currently playing their Great Circle world tour and have four dates left before completing the around the world comeback tour in Sydney on November 17.

They did not say whether Moginie would be well enough to play the rest of the gigs, or would need to be replaced.
