Fans of late 90s music will rejoice at the news The Backstreet Boys and the Spice Girls may reunite for a joint world tour.

The ultimate girl group and boy band are apparently in talks about collaborating on a comeback, according to Backstreet Boys member Nick Carter.

In an interview with Us Magazine, the now-41-year-old singer said he was good friends with Emma Bunton – otherwise known as ‘Baby Spice’ – and the two of them had discussed teaming up.

“We’ve had conversations, I’ve had conversations with Scary Spice and Emma, and we’ve talked about it,” Carter revealed.

“We’re always open to doing a tour with them. I think it would be an epic tour.”

If the tour were to go ahead, there’s little doubt it would be a sell-out given the combined success of both groups.

The Spice Girls have sold more than 85 million albums worldwide, while the Backstreet Boys have sold more than 130 million globally.

News of a potential Spice Girls reunion in 2016 sent the internet into a frenzy, but those plans were put on hold when Geri Halliwell (aka Ginger Spice) became pregnant.

After giving birth in January, Halliwell told Page Six the band would be reforming “in the near future”.

However, the challenge lies in convincing Victoria Beckham (Posh Spice) and Melanie Chisholm (Sporty Spice) to get involved, given both women have publicly confirmed they would not take part in the band’s reunion.

The Backstreet Boys, meanwhile, have been performing together on and off for years and currently have a residency in Las Vegas.
