The X Factor Australia winner Isaiah Firebrace will take on Europe’s best as Australia’s contestant for the 2017 Eurovision Song Contest.

Firebrace, a teenage revelation on the Channel 7 show last year, will sing Don’t Come Easy, a slow-burning ballad written by the same team that wrote Dami Im’s 2016 entry Sound of Silence.

The 17-year-old, from Moama, New South Wales, will take to one of music’s biggest stages for the contest in Kiev, Ukraine in May.

Firebrace said the opportunity was a dream come true.

“Even though it has been a dream of mine, never did I think for one minute it would be a possibility,” he said.

“To be able to share this news with my family and friends is unbelievable. I can’t wait to go to the Ukraine to perform Don’t Come Easy.

“I will make Australia proud.”
