Taylor Swift fans infuriated by Kanye West video

Rapper Kanye West has reignited his feud with Taylor Swift by including a naked wax doll of the pop star in his new video for the song Famous.

West, who first put Swift fans offside when he hijacked her acceptance speech at the Video Music Awards in 2009, has a checkered history with the star.

The film clip for Famous features a dead ringer for Swift lying naked next to him in a bed with 11 other celebrities.

According to West, who has become known for his increasingly strange social media presence, the video drew inspiration from a famous painting.

But legions of Swift fans have denounced the clip – which also features George W Bush and Bill Cosby lookalikes – as disrespectful and tasteless.

‘I made that b**** famous’

West premiered his Famous video to fans and friends at the Forum Theatre on Friday.

Calling the clip “a comment on fame”, Famous featured naked wax dolls of himself, wife Kim Kardashian, Donald Trump, Rihanna and transgender woman Caitlin Jenner next to accused-rapist Bill Cosby.

But the fact that Swift and Kardashian both flank West has not escaped the notice of Swift fans.

West already drew the ire of Swift when he released the audio for Famous in March this year.

In one lyric, West bragged “I feel like me and Taylor Swift might still have sex, I made that b**** famous”.

Many took the lyric to refer to his infamous ‘mic grab’ at the MTV Video Music Awards, and to claim that Swift wasn’t famous before it.

In the inevitable fallout, West claimed Swift had approved the idea, which her PR team vehemently denied.

Never directly addressing the offensive lyric, Swift instead took a veiled swipe at West at the 2016 Grammy Awards.

“To all the young women out there, there are going to be people along the way that will try to undercut your success or take credit for your accomplishments or your fame … but don’t let those people sidetrack you.”

‘Walking performance art’

In an exclusive review, Vanity Fair called the Famous clip West’s “most thought-provoking yet”.

West told the magazine the clip should not be taken to support or criticise any of the celebrities.

Regardless, the video is certainly provocative.

Most of the celebrities in the bed have been linked to a Kanye controversy at some time.

Kanye’s wife Kim Kardashian lies naked next to her ex-husband Ray J, who famously leaked her sex tape.

Bill Cosby, however, was the subject of a controversial Kanye West Tweet (“Bill Cosby is innocent!”), while Amber Rose dated West from 2008 to 2010.

West told Vanity Fair the video was partly inspired by American’s realist Vincent Desiderio’s painting ‘Sleep’.

Yet, clearly aware that some of the figures are likely to reject film’s artistic credibility, West Tweeted on Saturday: “Can somebody sue me already?”
