Bowie’s son not impressed with Gaga tribute

The internet seemed almost universally impressed, but it seems one very important person may not have enjoyed Lady Gaga’s David Bowie tribute at the Grammys.
Gaga’s much-anticipated performance turned out to be a breathless medley of Bowie’s greatest hits, culminating in the ballad ‘We Can Be Heroes’.
The singer, who got a Ziggy Stardust tattoo in the days prior to the performance, wowed the Grammy audience, but a cryptic Tweet from Bowie’s son Duncan Jones has many questioning whether he was as blown away.

• Ewan McGregor’s moving Bowie tribute
• Inside David Bowie’s deeply private home life
“‘Overexcited or irrational, typically as a result of infatuation or excessive enthusiasm; mentally confused.’ Damn it! What IS that word!?”
Twitter sleuths were quick to discover the word Jones was referring to was ‘Gaga’.
It’s unclear whether the Tweet was actually a veiled swipe at Gaga’s performance, but users were quick to decipher it as such.
“She honoured your father In a way no other artist would,” replied one user.
“It’s cruel and mean spirited to attack Lady Gaga who gave her all to honour and entertain,” wrote another.
Jones has not bothered to expand on what he meant, nor has Gaga – who has been basking in the generally positive reactions – responded to the Tweet.
A month after David Bowie’s death in early January, Duncan Jones announced his wife was pregnant and Bowie had known before he died.

@ManMadeMoon How terrible of you. How could you be so rude to someone who looked up to your dad and did her best when she was called to act? — mcoop (@mcoop) February 16, 2016
@mcoop @ManMadeMoon Surely the man is entitled to his opinion. especially considering it’s about his father. — Darcy Bennett (@Miss_Squiggle) February 16, 2016
