The political waters in Australia may be turbulent but in the USA it appears to be smooth sailing – especially for 2020 Presidential hopeful Kanye West.

West, who announced he would be running for America’s top job during the MTV Video Music Awards last month, now has a Super PAC (Political Action Committee) called Yeezus 2020 campaigning for him.

Super PACs can collect money to campaign for a candidate they support but are not directly linked to any official campaign. They must report campaign donors on a monthly or quarterly basis to the US Federal Election Commission.

Yeezus 2020 has already set up a website and put together campaign advertising for West under the banner: “Help us get Kanye elected in 2020. For real.”

Much like West’s announcement, people are now wondering whether the Super PAC is serious.

The website asks supporters to call and leave messages about why they want to see Kanye be President in 2020.

“If we end up using your voicemail in a future promotion, we’ll send you a free pack of Kanye 2020 bumper stickers,” the website states.

While the 2020 campaign has already started, Hillary Clinton, who is a Presidential candidate for 2016, has thrown her tentative support behind West.

“Well, if I’m going for my second term, [I would ask him] to wait four years, but if I’m not, to be sure he has comfortable shoes because there’s a lot of walking involved,” Clinton advised.

West has also garnered support from others in the music world including Ice Cube and his son O’Shea Jackson.

“I’ll vote for him,” Cube said during an Australian promotional tour of his new movie Straight Outta Compton.

“He’s better than everybody else that’s sitting there. I mean, I like Obama but Kanye will probably have a better inaugural party.”
