‘Because I’m happy’: Pink slams body shamers

Music superstar Pink has hit out at body shamers in the best way possible: with a beautiful message to her three-year-old daughter Willow.

Online keyboard warriors attacked the star after she stepped out in a black party dress on Saturday evening, calling her “fat” and encouraging her to “stop producing music and raise your ugly child”.

• Kurt Cobain’s daughter ‘doesn’t like Nirvana’
• AC/DC to tour Australia in November
• Gwyneth Paltrow to live on $29 for one week

The ‘So What’ singer tweeted a moment she shared with Willow when the toddler asked “why are you so squishy?”.

Wrapped up in the mother-of-one’s response was a friendly jab at her body critics: “because I’m happy”.

The Twittersphere was quick to congratulate Pink on her strong response, with many people telling the singer that she “looked great” and that she is their “abspiration”.

In recent days the singer has also tweeted other taunts to body bullies, writing: “I am perfectly fine, perfectly happy, and my healthy, voluptuous and crazy strong body is having some much deserved time off. Thanks for your concern. Love, cheesecake”, and “my hubby says ‘it’s just more to love baby'”.

Pink, 35, is known for putting on some of the most athletic and well-choreographed live performances which have included singing while performing circus acrobatics metres above the ground.

Let’s not forget she also won three Grammys and has been nominated 15 times as either a feature, collaborating or supporting artist.

And this is just in case you need a reminder of just how coordinated and athletic the performer is:
