Madonna has suffered an embarrassing fall at the Brit Awards, spilling over backwards spectacularly on stage, while dressed in a giant cape.

The legendary singer was returning to the Brit Awards stage for the first time in 20 years for a performance of ‘Living For Love’, but her big moment was marred by the nasty fall.

The singer appeared to trip on her long black cloak as she walked on to the stage and she fell back down the steps on to the floor, as her backup dancers looked on in shock.

Unfortunately for the singer, the crash landing was caught on camera and has now been turned into a vine video – already viewed millions of times.

Madonna quickly picked herself up and carried on with her performance, but not without some ridicule on Twitter.

Madonna has struggled to maintain her massive popularity in the age of social media, never quite managing to gather the momentum that other stars, like Taylor Swift, Rihanna and Katy Perry, have mastered online.
