British rock royalty The Rolling Stones have announced their 2014 Australian tour dates and the band will play a series of stadiums and outdoor concerts.

After an initial announcement of a single show at the Adelaide Oval on March 22, the group has now revealed it will take its ’14 On Fire’ tour around the country next year.

The Stones will play one-night-only shows in Perth, Melbourne, Sydney, Brisbane, Auckland and Victoria’s iconic Hanging Rock, where fellow music legend Bruce Springsteen played sell-out shows in early 2013.

“Can’t wait to reconnect with all our friends in Australia,” Mick Jagger said in a statement.

“It’s been a while since we’ve played to you all, so we are looking forward to being back on stage and playing your favourite songs.”

Fans will be treated to classics, such as Paint It Black, Jumpin’ Jack Flash and It’s Only Rock’n’roll, mixed with some lesser-known songs and a few covers.

Mick Taylor, who was a member of The Rolling Stones from 1969 to 1974, will be a special guest for the tour.

Tickets go on sale through Ticketek on Monday, December 16. Pre-sale tickets will go on sale December 9.
